Performs a variety of skilled and complex clerical functions using a computer and the Imaging Service Department and Hospital Information Systems. Reviews and obtains information to ensure adequate health insurance coverage or that deposit requirements for self-pay patients are met. Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization/pre-certification for all outpatients and for all exams with this requirement. Documents all pertinent information in Affinity and IDX. Greets patients and collects appropriate data to correctly provide the customers with the requested services. Interviews patients to obtain demographic and financial data. Creates patient records and/or enter physician orders in the computer. Receives visitors and telephone calls, refers callers to the appropriate department or staff member. Takes action to resolve problems that may arise in their interaction with patients and physicians. Deals with confidential information in accordance with hospital.
